Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Database Administrator (DBA) to support a federal client. This role is responsible for designing, managing, maintaining, and optimizing complex database environments supporting mission-critical applications, data integration, business intelligence, and enterprise analytics.

The Senior DBA will collaborate with system architects, developers, data engineers, and government stakeholders to ensure database environments are secure, reliable, scalable, highly available, and optimized for performance .

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design, administer, manage, and maintain complex enterprise database environments.

  • Evaluate and optimize database configurations, performance, security, and access controls.

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve database performance, capacity, availability, and scalability issues.

  • Perform database backup, recovery, disaster recovery planning, and data restoration activities.

  • Develop and maintain data models supporting enterprise business and technical requirements.

  • Support data integration, ETL, data migration, and data warehousing initiatives.

  • Assist users and technical teams with database access, troubleshooting, and data utilization requirements.

  • Develop and implement database standards, procedures, documentation, and best practices.

  • Support analytics, reporting, and business intelligence initiatives through optimized database structures.

  • Collaborate with system architects, developers, and engineering teams to support application integration and modernization efforts.

  • Evaluate emerging database and data management technologies and recommend improvements to architecture and operations.

  • Ensure compliance with applicable federal security, privacy, and data management requirements.

  • Participate in the planning, implementation, and execution of strategic database and data initiatives.

Required Qualifications

Database & Data Experience

Minimum 5 years of experience with:

  • Data analysis

  • Data migration tools and methodologies

  • Data modeling

  • Data integration

  • Data warehousing

  • Database design

  • SQL database development and administration

Technical Support & Architecture Experience

Minimum 4 years of experience providing technical support involving:

  • Research and experimentation

  • Data analysis

  • Systems technology

  • System architecture

  • Systems and data integration capabilities

Process Improvement

Minimum 3 years of experience identifying and recommending improvements to policies, procedures, or technical processes to support:

  • Business growth

  • Operational efficiency

  • System modernization

  • Improved data management practices

Data Integration

Minimum 2 years of experience manipulating and integrating structured and unstructured data from multiple platforms and data sources.

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience supporting federal law enforcement, justice, intelligence, or other public-sector organizations .

  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL , or comparable enterprise database platforms.

  • Experience with cloud database technologies and environments, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Oracle Cloud .

  • Experience supporting large-scale data analytics, business intelligence, or investigative data systems.

  • Knowledge of ETL tools, data governance, and enterprise data architecture .

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, Agile delivery methodologies, and modern data management practices .

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Information Technology, Engineering , or a related discipline.
