Walk Bike Nashville is seeking exceptional leaders to join our Board of Directors and play a pivotal role in shaping the organization’s next chapter. Terms are three years beginning on January 1, and Directors may serve up to two consecutive terms.

Walk Bike Nashville’s Board of Directors sets the organization’s strategic direction, oversees its financial health, hires and supports the Executive Director, and ensures strong governance.
Advocacy & Representation
• Act as a positive ambassador for WBN at all times.
• Represent the interests of all people served by WBN, not personal or outside interests.
• Support and encourage staff without engaging in management of day-to-day operations.
Financial Commitment
• Lead by example with a personally significant annual financial contribution.
• Actively assist with fundraising efforts according to my skills and networks.
Meeting & Event Participation
• Attend at least 75% of board meetings (preferably in person). Board meetings are held on the even months of the year (usually on Monday evenings for 1.5 hours) with one to two of the meetings being held as half-day retreats on a Saturday or Sunday.
• Serve on at least one committee and attend at least 75% of committee meetings. Committees meet in odd months, usually for an hour virtually.
• Participate in signature events such as Tour de Nash and/or Open Streets.
• Be available for occasional phone or email consultations with WBN staff.
Organizational Support
• Stay informed about WBN’s mission, programs, and goals.
• Work collaboratively with fellow board members and staff to advance WBN’s vision.
We are looking for individuals who are passionate about Walk Bike Nashville’s mission and interested in being an active, engaged board member. Preferred skills include fundraising, budgeting/finance, public relations and marketing, as well as professional and/or lived experience related to multimodal transportation.
